Overview

In this Business Analyst role within Tes’s AI & Innovation function, you will formalise requirements, measure adoption, and quantify impact across a diverse, global EdTech portfolio. You’ll partner with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to turn pain points into scoped opportunities and maintain governance, risk, and compliance practices. You’ll own ROI, baselines, and adoption metrics for AI pilots, shaping how AI initiatives deliver real value for schools and educators. This is a hands-on, cross-team role in a fast-moving, high-impact program.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Pain Points & Issues Register and Opportunity Map as living documents
  • Translate pain points into scoped, evidenced opportunities using the department’s value/feasibility framework
  • Write PRDs, user stories and acceptance criteria for AI-enabled tools
  • Provide analysis support across the department as needed
  • Oversee the department’s project management environment and dashboards
  • Track adoption and ROI from pilot through cross-department use
  • Prototype automation to reduce manual workloads with engineering
  • Capture baselines and measure impact post-launch
  • Manage budgets and ensure metrics and ROI remain viable
  • Co-design ROI and value-measurement framework with Finance and report to senior leadership
  • Support governance, risk tagging, and Data Protection Impact Assessments
  • Maintain use-case inventory and documentation for audits
  • Translate technical capability into business language and enablement content
  • Support vendor/tool evaluation and knowledge assets

Key requirements

  • Experience as a Business Analyst, Product Analyst or similar in technology/SaaS/data environments
  • Proven ability to write PRDs, user stories and acceptance criteria used by engineers
  • Direct collaboration with senior technical staff as analytical partner
  • Experience in roadmap definition and ambiguity in a fast-moving environment
  • Knowledge of AI/ML concepts suitable for technical discussions
  • Familiarity with UK GDPR and DPIAs
  • Comfort working with data from multiple systems to identify patterns
  • Awareness of agile/product working practices
  • Structured thinking and synthesis
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Comfort with ambiguity in a small, fast-moving team
