Overview
As a Senior Civil Engineer at Arup in London, you will lead civil design and multidisciplinary project delivery within the Energy, Water and Resources South group. You will own civil design packages, coordinate resources, and engage with clients to drive technical excellence and commercial success. The role blends technical leadership with client-facing responsibilities and opportunities to mentor engineers, support bids, and shape project outcomes. You will work on earthworks, roads, utilities, flood risk, and drainage across UK and international projects, contributing to Arup’s mission to shape a better world.

Responsibilities
- Manage multidisciplinary engineering projects, plan resources, and monitor commercial performance
- Lead civil engineering design on projects, including preparation and review of drawings, reports, specifications, and presentations
- Produce bid documents and support business development activities
- Contribute to technical excellence and training within the wider team
- Promote and embody the Culture, Equity and Inclusion strategy
- Line manage a small group of engineers and technicians with performance development (in due course)
Key requirements
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status (ICE or equivalent)
- Degree in Civil Engineering
- Strong technical background in earthworks, roads and streets, public realm, utilities, flood risk and drainage
- Experience with design tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, Bentley 3D AECOsim, Microdrainage, GIS)
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with client-facing experience
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Track record of successful project completion in UK and/or international contexts
