Overview
In this role you will lead and shape cutting-edge functional genomics efforts to identify and validate therapeutic targets. You will drive automation-friendly screening approaches and digital data strategies to scale experimentation and accelerate discovery within TIM. Collaborating across multidisciplinary teams, you will translate complex data into actionable insights and mature novel targets toward the Novo research portfolio. This position combines scientific leadership with mentorship, partnerships, and strategic influence to advance patient-centric programs. Responsibilities
- Lead development and implementation of functional genomics, gene-editing, cell engineering, and assay technology strategies to support target ID and validation
- Design and run mechanistic studies to establish target biology, mode of action, and therapeutic relevance
- Standardize integration and interpretation of multi-omic data to inform target selection and project progression
- Foster collaborations with internal stakeholders, academia, biotech partners, and service providers to broaden capabilities
- Mentor scientists and champion emerging technologies, FAIR data practices, and innovative approaches
- Provide scientific leadership and independent, strategic input to advance targets in the research pipeline
Key requirements
- Extensive experience in functional genomics applied to target identification and validation in pharma/biotech
- Proven track record leading functional genomics and cell-based screening workflows, including gene editing and advanced in vitro models
- Strong experimental design, statistics, and ability to apply automation and digital tools to assay development and screening
- Ability to translate data into actionable recommendations and robust scientific insights
- Excellent collaboration, mentoring, and communication with multidisciplinary stakeholders
- Knowledge of target classes and capability to design mechanistic studies
