Estimator – Civil Engineering

Overview

In this role you will lead the pre-construction tender process for civil engineering infrastructure bids in the London/SE region. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality, costed proposals and manage bid timelines from start-up to award. You will help shape strategy, optimize value, and ensure compliant, competitive tenders that support the business’s market share goals. This is a hands-on position with a focus on collaboration with senior management and external partners to win substantial contracts.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with national work winning resources and BU/GM leadership to drive bid success
• Lead development of winning proposals in response to client bid documents
• Own the tender process from bid to award, aligning commercial, quality, and process standards
• Set bid strategy at startup with Senior Management, potentially in Joint Venture/Alliance contexts
• Identify resource requirements and manage bid programme and deliverables
• Oversee technical reviews of estimating, planning, and supply chain proposals
• Collaborate with Proposals Manager and Bid Writer for high-quality submission material
• Coordinate tender settlement information and present to Senior Management
• Capture client feedback post-submission and disseminate learnings

Key requirements

• Proven estimating, bidding, and winning of design and build contracts in civil engineering
• Ability to articulate tender schemes to senior management and bid teams
• Strong bid management and multitender coordination experience
• Experience with design teams and Joint Venture/Alliance partnerships
• Commercial acumen and ability to develop supply chain relationships
• Knowledge of cost planning, estimating, and construction contracts
• Capability to manage multiple tenders with high quality outcomes
• Client-facing experience and ability to present to stakeholders
