Site Engineer – Water

Overview

In this role, you will support delivery across water and infrastructure projects for a well-established civil contractor. You will work within a project team to ensure works are set out accurately, safely, and in line with design requirements, contributing to a strong project pipeline. You will engage in planning, documentation, and technical issue resolution to keep schemes on track. The position offers long-term career development within a stable, framework-led environment focused on quality and safety. Responsibilities

• Setting out works in accordance with contract drawings and survey control
• Carrying out regular checks for accuracy and compliance
• Producing site documentation (ITPs, task briefings, site diaries, allocation sheets)
• Supporting planning with short-term programmes and 2-week lookaheads
• Resolving technical queries and site-based issues
• Coordinating with procurement to ensure resources and materials are available
• Promoting health, safety, environmental compliance and quality
• Identifying opportunities for value engineering and continuous improvement

Key requirements

• Experience setting out on civil engineering or infrastructure projects
• Good understanding of construction methods, health & safety and industry standards
• Experience using total stations or similar surveying equipment
• Degree or HNC in Civil Engineering
• Strong communication skills and a proactive, solutions-focused approach
• CSCS card and relevant site certifications (First Aid, IOSH/NEBOSH)
• Desirable: experience in water sector or utilities frameworks
• Desirable: AutoCAD and MS Office proficiency
• Desirable: Temporary works knowledge
