Java Software Engineer – Associate

Overview

In this role you will design, build and maintain Java-based platform components for Nomura’s Prime Brokerage stack, working within Global Markets IT. You will contribute across the full development lifecycle and embed automated testing into CI/CD. You collaborate with analysts, stakeholders and production teams to deliver robust, well-tested solutions. You will tackle production support and incident resolution while leveraging cloud, database and messaging technologies. This position supports Nomura’s expansion of CPB and SPB capabilities, offering a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain platform components in Java across the full development lifecycle
• Incorporate automated tests and ensure testing is integrated into the CI/CD pipeline
• Collaborate with business analysts, stakeholders and production support to deliver robust solutions
• Engage in production support and incident resolution
• Work with databases, messaging/queueing, cloud and observability technologies
• Identify and escalate technical and delivery risks
• Support continuous improvement of engineering practices, tooling, and delivery approaches
• Partner with global engineering teams to ensure consistent, high-quality outcomes

Key requirements

• Strong hands-on Java development experience in an agile, fast-paced delivery environment
• Proficient in automated testing practices and pipeline-integrated test automation
• Experience with databases and messaging/queueing technologies
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms and observability/monitoring tooling
• Comfort with production support activities and incident resolution
