Overview
In this role you will shape and deliver product improvements for SSRN, Elsevier’s preprint server, collaborating with engineering, analytics, operations and content teams. You’ll translate user and business needs into actionable requirements and drive data-informed decisions to improve the scholarly community’s experience. You work across cross-functional teams to manage backlogs, track progress, and coordinate releases. You will be at the intersection of data, UX and publishing technology, contributing to a mission that supports researchers worldwide.

Responsibilities
- Write user stories and acceptance criteria for SSRN features, ensuring sprint-ready definitions
- Collaborate with development, operations and content teams to gather and document requirements
- Produce analytics reports and interpret outputs, including AI-supported insights
- Maintain backlog hygiene via grooming, sequencing, labeling, and prioritisation
- Run or support Sprint ceremonies and communicate progress in JIRA and Aha
- Identify and prioritise production issues using data to support resolution
- Support discovery, launch readiness, stakeholder communications, and collaboration with Analytics and Data Science teams
Key requirements
- Strong product thinking with understanding of technology platforms and data architecture
- Ability to document clear requirements using user stories in an agile Sprint environment
- Hands-on UX and Design experience desirable (e.g., Figma wireframes)
- Experience with data-driven improvement using tools like Adobe Analytics, Hotjar and Pendo
- Familiarity with AI tools and their application to process improvement and product delivery
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and work independently

- Familiarity with scholarly communications and preprint culture is advantageous
