Overview

In this role you will contribute to mining and related water resources projects, supporting environmental assessments, permitting, design, ESG considerations, and water stewardship. You’ll perform climate, hydrological, and hydraulic analyses, develop water management plans and models, and design water infrastructure, while collaborating across disciplines and with clients. The position offers regional travel and opportunities to shape water-related solutions in mining and other sectors within UK & Ireland. You will join WSP’s Mine Water team in London (prefers London, with Reading/Birmingham/Leeds considered).

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to water resources aspects of mining projects including environmental assessments, permitting, and water stewardship
  • Perform climate, hydrological, and hydraulic assessments; develop water balance models and water management plans; design water management infrastructure
  • Conduct dam break analyses and consequence classification assessments
  • Prepare technical documents for senior review
  • Support non-mining projects in the UK & Ireland (Flood Risk Assessments, SuDS)
  • Travel for project-based site work as needed
  • Assist in client relationship development and business development
  • Collaborate with colleagues and support senior staff to meet project goals
  • Promote a safety-first culture and adhere to health and safety policies

Key requirements

  • BSc (or equivalent) in Water Resource Engineering or Civil Engineering with hydrology and hydraulics modules
  • BSc in Geography or Environmental Sciences with hydrology module
  • MSc in hydrology and/or hydraulic design (advantageous)
  • Strong technical and report writing skills
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Team-oriented with open, collaborative work style
  • Good organizational and time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
