Product Owner (Python)

Overview

In this role, you will shape data- and AI-focused products that enable faster, smarter lending decisions. You will collaborate with the Data Engineering team and business stakeholders to translate needs into tangible technical outcomes and measurable impact. You’ll drive the data and automation strategy, identifying opportunities to improve decision-making, efficiency, and customer outcomes. This is a hands-on, tech-driven position at a growing financial services business, with a clear focus on delivering scalable data platforms. You will work across technology, data, and product to influence the next generation of data-driven products.

Responsibilities

• Own and manage the product roadmap for data and AI initiatives
• Define requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria with Data Engineers
• Translate business needs into technical and product specifications
• Prioritise backlog based on value and technical considerations
• Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle
• Identify opportunities to apply AI, automation and data to improve products and processes
• Coordinate with Technology, Data, Product and wider stakeholders
• Define and measure product success using relevant KPIs and outcomes
• Support development of scalable data products and platforms
• Communicate priorities, progress and challenges to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Key requirements

• Product Owner, Product Manager or similar in a tech or data-focused environment
• Strong understanding of data engineering and modern data platforms
• Experience collaborating with Data Engineers or software engineering teams
• Good understanding of Python and its use in data, automation or AI
• Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
• Solid grasp of AI and its real-world applications to products and business problems
• Experience writing user stories, defining requirements and managing backlogs
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes
