Operations Manager

Overview

As Operations Manager you will lead the day-to-day operational delivery of HB Tunnelling’s nationwide projects, ensuring safety, programme integrity and productivity. You will work with Contracts Managers and site teams to resolve challenges, optimise resources and sustain momentum on tunnelling and civil projects. The role focuses on operational excellence, planning and collaboration to deliver complex works across water, utilities and infrastructure. This is an opportunity to influence project outcomes and drive safe, efficient delivery at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operational delivery across multiple tunnelling and civil projects
• Drive programme performance and help site teams hit milestones
• Coordinate labour, plant and specialist resources for maximum efficiency
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Site Managers and Supervisors to maintain momentum
• Visit sites regularly to uphold safety, quality and productivity standards
• Identify risks to the programme and implement recovery plans
• Align operational delivery with commercial and contractual objectives
• Foster a culture of operational excellence, teamwork and continuous improvement
• Support mobilisation of new projects and handover of completed works

Key requirements

• Proven operational management experience in civil engineering, tunnelling or major infrastructure
• Experience in shaft sinking, tunnelling, trenchless construction, water, gas or major infrastructure projects
• Strong leadership and organisational skills with decision-making under pressure
• Excellent planning and resource management experience
• Practical problem solver who works closely with site teams
