Overview
As Area Engineering Manager, you lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver Stage 3 Define and advance Stage 2 Appraise with a single preferred solution. You drive design assurance activities and oversee estimating, scheduling, and deliverables within a regulated nuclear context. You will interface with discipline leads, site clients, and stakeholders to align technical design with project schedules and safety requirements. This role offers impact across the full project lifecycle, shaping robust, constructible solutions.
Responsibilities
- Deliver Stage 3 Define aligned with schedule and cost
- Drive Stage 2 Appraise to select a single solution and produce Stage 3 Preliminary Design
- Complete preliminary design assurance per Risk-Based Assurance Strategy
- Lead multidisciplinary teams responsible for estimating, scheduling, forecasting and deliverables as AEM
- Manage DSA teams in deliverable production
- Identify and allocate additional resources to meet schedules
- Interface with Project Discipline Leads and other teams
- Engage with site clients and stakeholders
- Support Stage 4 delivery estimates, schedule, and supplier input during Define phase
- Collaborate with integrated project team to meet functional requirements (Constructability, Commissionability, HAZCON, safety, environment)
Key requirements
- Engineering background with track record of successful delivery and mentoring engineers
- Experience in an engineering design environment with full project lifecycle delivery
- Recent experience in a regulated and quality-assured system (preferably nuclear)
- Knowledge of governing laws, regulations, and standards for the nuclear industry (or equivalent)
- Experience with Project System Engineering and systematic design approach
- Familiarity with NEC3 contract terms and conditions
- Experience delivering cooling systems and CE&I power distribution projects
