Overview
As a Data Engineer you will own the data platform that powers GetGround’s intelligence layer, enabling accurate, timely data for products and AI agents. You’ll shape ingestion, structure, and serving of data, including unstructured sources like policy updates and regulatory guidance, to support international expansion. You’ll collaborate with engineering, product, and property experts to turn domain knowledge into reliable data products. This role combines technical ownership with a product mindset to improve data reliability and impact.

Responsibilities
- Own data as a product: determine data needed by customers and AI agents and measure usefulness and reliability
- Set standards for data sources, quality, authority, coverage, freshness and limitations
- Build ingestion pipelines beyond APIs for structured data, documents and published guidance
- Ingest updates from authorities (e.g., HMRC) and convert into usable, traceable data
- Structure and serve data so products and AI agents can access relevant facts with provenance and dates
- Design for international expansion with reusable models and ingestion patterns
- Maintain reliability across ingestion, transformation, storage and serving lifecycle
- Define technical direction, balance product needs with long-term architecture, document decisions
Key requirements
- Experience owning substantial production data systems
- Strong SQL, data modelling and production programming skills with experience in orchestration, testing, deployment and reliable pipelines
- Judgment about data sources and ability to resolve inconsistencies
- Experience handling messy external sources and non-API data
- Product mindset and ability to translate ambiguous needs into data products
- Architectural ownership and ability to improve existing systems with clear trade-offs
- Clear communication, initiative and ability to progress with incomplete tickets
