Senior Software Engineer II – Fraud Squad – Account Integrity (Java)

Overview

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Account Integrity team, you help protect Wise customers by strengthening fraud prevention and account security. You will own end-to-end projects that improve controls, detection systems, and automation for real-world financial crime challenges. The role blends backend work with frontend contributions to deliver tangible security improvements and scalable product growth. You’ll work cross-functionally to build a globally robust money transfer platform with a focus on customer protection and regulatory readiness.

Responsibilities

• Build and refine controls to prevent account takeovers
• Drive backend and frontend for crime prevention and detection systems (80% backend, 20% frontend)
• Deliver measurable security impact and automate processes to accelerate product growth
• Own end-to-end projects with a data-driven, customer-focused mindset
• Collaborate with Product, Data Science, and Investigations teams to communicate technical concepts

Key requirements

• Java or other JVM languages with Spring framework
• Experience designing and operating CI/CD pipelines and distributed, concurrent systems
• Strong product ownership, accountability, and data-driven decision making
• Experience with relational and non-relational databases, with query optimization and resilient schemas
• Solid fundamentals in code quality, Test Driven Development, and best practices
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills across multiple teams
