Overview
In this role you help uphold data governance and security within a banking environment, acting as a bridge between Head Office standards and local implementation in London. You will work closely with IT leadership to establish data standards, monitor data quality, and ensure regulatory alignment. You’ll translate global policies into local practices while building robust data security measures. This is an opportunity to shape data foundations in a regulated, finance-focused setting and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver compliant data solutions.

Responsibilities
- Support the lead to implement HQ data governance requirements and data standards
- Develop and monitor data quality evaluation systems to improve data foundations
- Track local data security, privacy laws, and regulatory requirements
- Maintain and enforce data security practices aligned with Head Office guidance
- Conduct data security risk assessments and continuous monitoring
- Define data security classification schemes per Head Office requirements
- Analyze local needs for data security technologies and apply architecture concepts
- Collaborate with development teams or vendors to strengthen data security in local apps
- Create and maintain local technical policies, standards, and procedures for data security
- Provide training on data governance and security policies to staff
- Perform other data management tasks as directed by Head of IT
Key requirements
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (reading/writing)
- Solid data management experience in banking
- Knowledge of data governance, data management, and data security frameworks
- Ability to read and write SQL
- Familiarity with data classification and data quality management
- Experience with data integration, data warehouse, and data migration tools
- Understanding of data lake/warehouse concepts
- Proactive, analytical, independent problem-solver
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results
- IT background in finance/banking; regulatory projects is a plus
