Overview
As Technical Manager you will lead Galliford Try’s standard school designs across the business, ensuring adoption and governing deviations. You will support tenders, uphold design quality and carbon benefits, and maintain a BIM-integrated library. You’ll train delivery teams, liaise with consultants and suppliers, and oversee projects from inception to defects liability. This role shapes education facilities through design standardisation and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation, development and updates of the standard design
- Ensure standard designs are used on every DfE project and support project delivery
- Train and inform delivery teams on the standard designs
- Act as single point of contact for consultants
- Provide oversight from inception to end of defects liability period
- Own and maintain the integrated, BIM-enabled library and guidance documents
- Interface with pre-construction and construction stakeholders
- Explore expansion of standardisation across sectors
Key requirements
- Senior level experience in a UK construction organisation
- Clear and confident communication at all levels
- Ability to influence and build collaborative relationships
- Leadership and team management capability
- Self-management with remote working capability while maintaining team spirit
- Strategic thinking and strong commercial awareness
- Excellent oral and presentation skills
- Willingness to travel across the UK
- Experience managing Designers and other Consultants
- Proven track record of delivering designs on time and within budget
- Pre-construction experience and exposure to education sector (desirable)
- HNC/HND/Degree in Construction/Design related field
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Membership of CIOB/RIBA/RICS (desirable)
