Overview

In this Associate role within WSP’s Building Structures team, you’ll lead the delivery of structural schemes from concept to handover, shaping iconic projects. You’ll work across high-rise, arenas, urban regeneration, healthcare, and other sectors, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and driving technical leadership. The position offers exposure to international projects, tendering, and client-facing opportunities, with mentoring for junior staff and a path toward Chartership. Responsibilities

  • Lead project management and delivery from inception to handover
  • Provide technical leadership on multi-disciplinary design projects
  • Take part in tender bids and business development
  • Manage commercial aspects and fee arrangements
  • Resolve technical issues with independent judgement
  • Mentor and develop junior team members toward Chartership
  • Coordinate with Architects, Engineers, and consultants
  • Provide sustainable structural solutions and advise on net-zero / MMC & DfMA

Key requirements

  • Proven design delivery on major multi-disciplinary projects; concept through inception
  • Project management and technical delivery leadership experience on medium to large schemes
  • Strong client relationship management and communication skills
  • Commercial and technical project management experience using appropriate tools
  • Team management experience and day-to-day operations
  • Lead client contact for consultancy services and stakeholder management
  • Degree or HNC/HND in a relevant discipline
  • Chartered (MIStructE / MICE)
  • Solid experience in structural engineering design across materials
  • Knowledge of national codes and standards
  • Experience with ETABS, RAM Structural System, Tekla Structural Designer, Tedds
  • Experience with Revit, Rhino and Grasshopper
  • Strong communication of technical and non-technical information
  • Relationship building with stakeholders and clients
  • Mentoring and coaching of junior staff
