Overview
In this role you lead structural and seismic design for complex, safety-critical facilities in defence, research and nuclear sectors. You provide technical leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, and mentor engineers within multidisciplinary teams. You will deliver advanced analyses, coordinate stakeholders, and support nuclear safety cases. The role combines high-impact design work with leadership to grow AECOM’s technical capabilities. You’ll work from Adelaide with potential relocation and a clear path to shaping critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities
- Lead structural and seismic design for complex buildings and safety-critical facilities in defence, research and nuclear sectors
- Provide technical leadership and NSQEP oversight ensuring codes, standards and safety compliance
- Deliver advanced structural/seismic analysis including dynamic assessment and resilience studies
- Manage multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with clients and stakeholders
- Review and assure quality of structural deliverables across project phases
- Support nuclear safety cases, regulatory submissions, and technical justifications
- Mentor engineers and contribute to growing technical capability and client relationships
Key requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (postgraduate seismic or nuclear qualifications advantageous)
- 15+ years’ experience in structural engineering with emphasis on complex seismic structures and safety-critical projects
- NSQEP experience or background in highly regulated nuclear environments
- Chartered Engineer and Registered Professional Engineer (or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of Australian and international seismic, nuclear and structural design standards
- Proficiency in advanced structural analysis and software (FEA, ETABS, SpaceGass, RAPT)
- Proven leadership, communication and project delivery in multidisciplinary settings
- Ability to obtain defence clearance (AUKUS)
