Test Automation Engineer

Overview

In this role you will help ensure the reliability of mission-critical VMS infrastructure within the Avigilon Alta Video team. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers to maintain automated tests across UI, API, and backend systems, supporting real-time performance, AI features, and CI/CD pipelines. The position offers hybrid working from Edinburgh with a clear focus on high-quality, scalable testing in a safety-focused product portfolio. You’ll work in a cross-functional, knowledge-sharing culture that values hands-on learning and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests within existing frameworks across UI, API, and backend systems
• Contribute to continuous integration and delivery pipelines to enable frequent, high-quality releases
• Support performance, load, and stress testing for high-performance systems
• Collaborate with senior engineers to uphold quality benchmarks for real-time solutions
• Directly contribute to public safety and enterprise security by ensuring solution quality

Key requirements

• 2-5 years of software engineering experience
• Proficiency in a modern programming language
• Experience with testing and automating workflows across UI and APIs
• Solid debugging and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with CI/CD principles and pipelines
• Collaborative team player with strong communication
