Procurement Manager

Overview

In this role, you will lead and oversee end-to-end procurement activities across a range of spent areas, helping UKSBS become a digitally-enabled public sector services provider. You will work with cross-functional teams to develop specifications, manage tender processes, and ensure governance and value-for-money across contracts. You’ll drive service transformation and embed best practices in procurement operations while coaching the team to deliver excellent customer service. This is a mission-driven opportunity to support world-class science, policy, and government agencies through strategic sourcing and responsible procurement.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end tendering processes (above and below threshold) and ensure compliance with government advertising and publishing regulations
• Develop service specifications and contract terms with stakeholders for tender preparation
• Maintain audit trails, governance, due diligence, and value-for-money analyses across procurement activities
• Support Head of Procurement with ad-hoc strategic initiatives and procurement transformations
• Build and lead a high-performing procurement team focused on accountability, consistent ways of working, and service excellence
• Drive adoption of best practices in procurement operations and contribute to service transformation
• Engage with stakeholders and project teams to align procurement with business objectives
• Lead medium to high-value complex procurement projects from engagement to award

Key requirements

• Proven experience managing medium to high-value complex procurement projects (non-category managed spend)
• Strong knowledge of Government regulations and best-practice procurement processes
• Experience with advanced purchasing techniques (above threshold) and procurement platforms (e.g., Jaggaer eSourcing)
• Knowledge of Public Sector procurement processes
• People management skills including coaching and mentoring
• Stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
