Director of Building Services

Overview

As Director for our Oxford office, you will spearhead brand development, set up and grow the new location, and drive technical and client-delivery excellence. You will mentor senior and associate engineers, nurture strong client relationships, and lead strategic project concepts while introducing innovative techniques and products. You will work closely with other Directors to deliver high-quality MEP design for prominent UK buildings and win new and repeat work. This role combines leadership, client-facing duties, and hands-on design oversight to shape a thriving startup-style office.

Responsibilities

• Attend project meetings with clients and disseminate the brief to the project team
• Lead development of initial strategic concepts ensuring compliance with brief and regulatory standards
• Take a lead role in an integrated project design team with other construction professionals
• Deliver solid technical delivery individually or as part of a team
• Mentor junior support staff to develop their skills toward Chartered status
• Monitor fee expenditure, resources, and work delivered with the team leader
• Exploration of innovative working methods and staying abreast of competitors
• Develop and manage client relationships to win new and repeat work

Key requirements

• 8+ years of experience in MEP design
• Experience delivering high-accreditation buildings in the UK
• Client-facing experience
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Architectural Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar
• Chartered or working towards Chartership
• Interest or experience in business development
