Overview
In this role you will deliver buildable electrical designs across clean and wastewater infrastructure, from outline to construction-ready detail. You’ll work within a South East team to support projects through delivery, collaborating with contractors and internal teams to resolve buildability and installation challenges. You’ll influence design compliance with BS 7671, WIMES, DSEAR and client standards, shaping electrical design for treatment works, pumping stations, and network assets. The opportunity combines hands-on design with contractor collaboration and end-to-end project delivery.

Responsibilities
- Electrical design from outline through to detailed design and construction issue
- Develop buildable LV electrical designs including power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, control panels, standby generation, and earthing/bonding
- Prepare electrical calculations (load schedules, cable sizing, fault levels, protection coordination)
- Produce and coordinate electrical drawings (single line diagrams, schematics, layouts, cable schedules)
- Coordinate with mechanical, civil, ICA, and construction teams to resolve buildability and sequencing challenges
- technically review supplier and subcontractor design information
- Support during construction, commissioning, and handover phases
- Ensure compliance with BS 7671, WIMES, DSEAR, CDM, and client standards
Key requirements
- Qualification in Electrical Engineering (degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent)
- Experience delivering electrical design within D&B water or wastewater projects
- Strong understanding of construction-stage design development and contractor interfaces
- Experience with MCC suppliers and electrical subcontractors
- Familiarity with Amtech/Trimble and AutoCAD
- Delivery-focused engineering approach
- Clear communication skills in fast-paced projects
- Chartered Engineer status (IET or equivalent) would be beneficial but not essential
