Operations Director – Fermentation

Overview

In this role you lead site operations at Elanco, driving safety, quality, delivery, cost and people performance in a fast-paced, regulated manufacturing setting. You shape operational strategy, manage cross-functional collaboration, and own production plans to ensure on-time delivery and efficiency. You’ll build high-performing teams, lead continuous improvement, and uphold GMP and feed safety standards. This leadership position offers impact across the site and contributes to Elanco’s mission to improve animal health and food supply.

Responsibilities

• Lead safe, compliant manufacturing operations and promote a strong safety culture
• Drive performance across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People
• Develop and execute production plans ensuring on-time delivery and efficiency
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with Engineering, Technical Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Planning and Finance
• Own operational performance including manufacturing execution, equipment readiness, maintenance, quality, and recovery planning
• Manage budgets, headcount and resources to meet objectives
• Coach and develop high-performing teams with performance management and succession planning
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies to improve productivity and reduce variability
• Represent Operations in site leadership forums and drive strategic initiatives
• Ensure compliance with GMP, EHS and Feed Safety while maintaining high quality

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline
• Significant leadership experience in manufacturing or process industry
• Proven experience leading large operational teams in a 24/7 environment
• Strong background in Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence (Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt preferred)
• Experience with project management and ERP systems such as SAP
• Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience working in highly regulated industries
