Financial Controller

Overview

In this Financial Controller role, you will lead the UK finance function and report to the Finance Director and Board. You will partner with senior leaders on commercial decisions, investment appraisals, and business cases, while developing the Finance Team Leaders to sustain high performance. You’ll own budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and long‑term planning, ensuring strong governance and statutory compliance. You will drive policy, system improvements, and cost‑reduction initiatives to support the company’s manufacturing operations.

Pay / Benefits

• salary up to £87,000 plus benefits

Responsibilities

• Direct the UK finance function and report to Finance Director and Board
• Provide strategic partnering to senior directors on commercial decisions and business cases
• Mentor and develop Finance Team Leaders to foster high performance
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and long‑term planning
• Ensure compliance with UK GAAP/IFRS, SOX reporting, and statutory audits
• Drive continuous improvements in financial policies, systems, and cost‑reduction strategies

Key requirements

• Senior leadership experience, ideally in a manufacturing environment
• Strong reporting background with audit management experience
• Fully qualified: CIMA, ACA or ACCA
• Advanced MS Excel skills (Macros, Pivots, VLOOKUP)
• SAP or Oracle experience is a plus
• Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation, and communication skills
