Intellectual Property Specialist

Overview

In this role you will support research teams with IP guidance, manage and protect the company’s patent portfolio, and coordinate filings with inventors and external counsel. You will lead IP reviews, drive strategic input on IP matters, and promote best practices across research teams. The role offers flexibility (full-time or part-time) and a path to shape how cutting-edge science is protected and commercialised.

Responsibilities

• Provide IP guidance to research teams across multiple technology projects
• Analyze third-party patents to assess risk and propose mitigations
• Coordinate with inventors and external counsel to prepare and file patent applications
• Manage and monitor the patent portfolio, including renewals
• Lead internal patent reviews and offer strategic IP input
• Maintain communication with global patent agents and external legal representatives
• Promote IP best practices across research and innovation teams
• Identify opportunities to improve IP management processes
• Ensure compliance with legal, safety, and environmental procedures

Key requirements

• Previous experience in patent-related roles (Patent Scientist, Patent Analyst, etc.)
• Doctorate in Chemistry, Physics, or Biochemistry, or equivalent experience
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to engage with new and emerging technologies
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proactive and curious approach to driving innovation through IP
