Overview
As Legal Counsel, AI & Technology, you guide innovative AI and digital transformations while safeguarding regulatory compliance. You’ll partner with Legal, IT, Privacy, Procurement and business units to shape AI solutions and manage technology contracts. The role blends practical legal advice with strategic risk management across the lifecycle of technology projects. You will influence governance frameworks and help scale enterprise initiatives in a fast-changing regulatory landscape.

Responsibilities
- Support the enterprise AI transformation programme and strategic technology initiatives
- Advise on legal, regulatory and governance considerations for AI, emerging tech, digital transformation and data-driven solutions
- Draft, review and negotiate technology agreements including SaaS, cloud services, software licensing, IT outsourcing, cybersecurity and consultancy contracts
- Partner with IT, Procurement, Privacy, Information Security, Compliance and commercial teams across the business
- Identify, assess and manage legal risks in technology and innovation programmes
- Support AI governance initiatives, policy development and risk management frameworks
- Monitor developments in AI regulation, privacy law and digital health legislation across jurisdictions
- Contribute to contracting excellence programmes, legal training initiatives and process improvements within Legal
Key requirements
- Strong technology and commercial contracting expertise in drafting and resolving technology agreements
- Deep knowledge of privacy and regulatory frameworks (GDPR and data protection laws) with guidance on data use and cross-border transfers; familiarity with HIPAA or similar healthcare frameworks beneficial
- Excellent judgement and business partnering skills to navigate complex issues and balance legal with business objectives
- Strong interest in AI, innovation and digital transformation with ability to learn new regulatory requirements and industry trends
- Experience supporting AI governance, digital health initiatives or highly regulated industries; cross-sector candidates with strong tech law background considered
- Exceptional collaboration and relationship-building abilities across IT, Privacy, Compliance, Information Security and commercial stakeholders
- Solicitor qualification with minimum five years post-qualification experience
