Overview
In this role you will support AECOM’s Water Team in Scotland, contributing to large-scale water treatment projects and the SR27 Enterprise programme. You’ll design and verify process systems, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with clients to deliver integrated solutions. The opportunity combines technical leadership with cross-disciplinary work in a high-impact infrastructure portfolio. You will help shape design excellence at scale and drive value for communities across Scotland.

Responsibilities
- Develop and check process flow diagrams, mass balance, P&ID, control philosophy and operating philosophy documents
- Conduct asset surveys and site visits for existing process/equipment
- Produce and review client deliverables and make key technical decisions
- Collaborate with clients and internal teams to secure stakeholder buy-in and share innovative approaches
- Mentor and supervise junior staff and delegate tasks
- Represent AECOM in technical meetings and integrate solutions with engineers from other disciplines
Key requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering
- Chartered Engineer status with IChemE or CIWEM
- Extensive experience in water treatment and technical delivery of large-scale projects
- Experience leading feasibility studies, optioneering and detailed design for water treatment
- Mentor, checker and verifier capabilities; contribute to proposals and winning work
- Knowledge of HAZOP; familiarity with DSEAR is preferred
