Senior Cost Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead cost management for data centre programmes within Gleeds’ global portfolio. You’ll manage contracts (FIDIC/NEC), engage stakeholders, and oversee contractor and subcontractor accounts. You’ll steer the project through RIBA stages, mentor junior colleagues, and own master planning and feasibility studies. This position combines technical rigour with leadership across cross‑functional teams, in a hybrid London setting with a strong pipeline of high‑impact projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead client engagements to ensure work aligns with specifications and cost targets
• Execute and administer FIDIC and NEC contracts
• Engage stakeholders across the portfolio
• Manage contractor and subcontractor accounts
• Lead and support projects through RIBA stages
• Mentor and develop junior team members
• Own master planning and feasibility studies
• Lead on estimating, benchmarking, and market intelligence to maintain baselines

Key requirements

• End-to-end project experience in the Data Centre sector
• Experience with FIDIC and NEC contract forms
• Consultancy background preferred
• Detailed knowledge of cost estimating and cost planning techniques
• Comprehensive knowledge of procurement strategies including tendering and contract strategies
• Understanding of legislation affecting building contracts
• Ability to motivate and lead high-performing teams
• Strong communication skills (oral and written)
• Methodical thinking and ability to absorb complex information
• Excellent problem solving, negotiating, financial and numeracy skills
• Sound ICT skills with MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Ability to prepare high-quality bids for services
• Ability to negotiate fees to achieve profit targets
