Overview
In this Senior Consultant role, you support the Development Planning and Management Team to safeguard the Strategic Road Network through expert planning reviews and stakeholder engagement. You work closely with a key client, guiding the assessment process and delivering high-quality technical outputs. You mentor junior staff and help manage deliverables, timelines, and budgets. This position offers exposure to strategic transport planning challenges and the chance to shape infrastructure outcomes for a major client.

Responsibilities
- Review planning application documentation affecting the SRN
- Engage with the client and stakeholders to own reviews and tasks
- Mentor junior staff and coordinate workload
- Deliver high-quality transport planning outputs within time and budget constraints
- Assess transport documentation and convey findings in Technical Notes
- Support project delivery through task management and client liaison
Key requirements
- Degree in relevant field
- Membership of CIHT, TPS or CILT (professional body)
- Experience in transport planning and mentoring junior staff
- Awareness of UK transport planning principles and regulations
- Experience in transport modelling (local, ideally strategic)
- Proficiency in transport planning tools and MS Word/Excel
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Negotiation and interpersonal skills
- Transport Assessments understanding
- Trip Generation and Trip Distribution/Assignment
- Junction Capacity Modelling (JUNCTIONS/LINSIG; microsimulation awareness)
