Overview
You will support the New Business Intake function in a London-based C&R team, ensuring compliant and efficient onboarding of new clients and ongoing monitoring. You’ll handle complex CDD issues, assess risk at inception, and advise on cross-border regulatory differences, while collaborating with senior stakeholders. You will contribute to high‑risk due diligence, sanctions considerations, and source-of-wealth assessments, shaping robust client onboarding practices. This role offers exposure to multi‑jurisdictional regulation and the chance to impact how the firm maintains legal and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Handle complex CDD issues for companies and trusts and determine information needs
- Advise on CDD requirements for overseas offices
- Conduct client risk assessments at inception and after CDD updates
- Research adverse press and assess relevance for prospective clients
- Research source of wealth/funds and advise the partners/fee earners
- Screen for PEPs and prepare approval emails for Senior Management
- Perform EDD for High Risk Third Country clients with approvals
- Support the NBI inbox and compliance queries
- Assist with ad-hoc sanctions screening and due diligence for third parties
- Manage compliance projects and assist senior colleagues on research tasks
- Ensure compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations and firm policies
Key requirements
- Previous compliance experience is essential
- Experience with international regulations (Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar) is preferred
- Strong IT skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Conscientious, methodical, and highly detail-oriented
- Highly organized with ability to manage conflicting priorities and deadlines
- Proactive with initiative to resolve issues
- Experience in a law firm Compliance Team is advantageous
