Operations Officer (Donation Management & Communications)

Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (KBRT)

The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust (KBRT) supports bereaved families across the island of Ireland by repatriating the bodies of loved ones who have died abroad in sudden or tragic circumstances. We are looking for an Operations Officer to manage donations and supporter relationships, communicate the impact of our work, and help our team to provide compassionate support to bereaved families.

The role

You will be a first point of contact for donors and supporters, record and acknowledge donations, maintain accurate records, and support fundraising activities and events. You will create sensitive, engaging content for our website and social media, respond to media enquiries, and help to promote the KBRT brand.

You will also assist with repatriations, including contact with families and partner organisations, and support the Trusts financial and administrative work. This role calls for care, compassion and sound judgement when handling sensitive information.

Essential criteria

Applicants must have:

  • A degree or other third level qualification.
  • At least two years experience that includes all of the following:
    • Providing high levels of donor or customer care in a charitable, fundraising, events or customer service setting.
    • Managing complex and/or sensitive issues effectively.
    • Creating website and social media content to communicate impact and increase engagement.
    • Building and maintaining relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisation and planning skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
  • Close attention to detail and financial accuracy.
  • The ability to handle complex or sensitive issues with empathy, compassion, confidentiality and sound judgement.
  • The ability to work effectively and flexibly as part of a team.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • A full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Experience in a charity, fundraising or events, online fundraising platforms, media or public communications, or financial management and bookkeeping would be an advantage.

Out of hours cover

Staff currently share a rota to monitor urgent calls and emails outside core hours. Current monitoring hours are 4.30 pm9.00 pm Monday to Friday and 10.00 am8.00 pm Saturday and Sunday. Staff currently receive an additional allowance for contributing to the rota. This service is currently being trialled and may change.
