Hays Belfast are currently recruiting for a Civils Contracts Manager where we are partnering with one of the UK and Ireland’s most established civil engineering contractors, with a heritage dating back generations.
With a growing turnover and increased project portfolio of works, your new company is renowned for delivering complex infrastructure solutions across the marine, utilities, rail and infrastructure sectors. The business has built a reputation for technical excellence, innovation and successfully delivering projects that leave a lasting impact. As the company continues to expand its specialist civil engineering offering, they are seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to play a key role in the growth of its heavy civils and marine operations across the wider UK.
Your new role
As Contracts Manager, you will take a leading role in developing and growing a high-performing project delivery team focused on major heavy civil engineering projects, with a particular emphasis on the marine sector. You will oversee multiple schemes from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme and within closely with commercial, design and operational teams, you will provide strategic leadership across project delivery, build strong client relationships and drive operational performance. This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious civil engineering professional who wants to shape the growth of a specialist business area whilst delivering technically challenging and rewarding role will involve occasional travel across the UK to support project delivery and business development activities. This is not expected to require extensive time away from home, typically involving only 1 or 2 overnight stays when required throughout the month.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Proven experience managing large-scale heavy civil engineering projects.
- Experience within marine, coastal, ports, offshore, infrastructure or related sectors would be highly advantageous.
- Strong leadership experience with the ability to build, mentor and develop project teams.
- Commercially aware with experience managing project budgets, programmes and contractual obligations.
- Ability to work collaboratively with design, commercial and operational stakeholders.
- Strong client-facing and relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication, planning and organisational abilities.
- Experience of managing Engineers, Site Agents and Project Managers
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
