Managing Associate – Hedge Funds – 5-10 Years PQE

Overview

In this role you will support a leading international law firm’s hedge funds practice from Bristol, guiding the formation, launch and ongoing regulatory compliance of hedge funds. You will work closely with asset managers and financial institutions to craft complex fund structures, negotiate key documents, and navigate cross-border regimes. The position offers deep specialization in hedge funds and investment management, with a clear path toward partnership. You’ll shape high-value advice for a sophisticated client base in a collaborative, growth-focused team.

Responsibilities

• Advise on open-ended hedge fund formation across multiple jurisdictions
• Draft and negotiate fund documentation (LPAs, IMAs, side letters, service agreements)
• Support regulatory and tax considerations (AIFMD, MiFID II, cross-border marketing)
• Advise on fund finance matters (subscription and NAV facilities)
• Work on bespoke structures (funds of one, parallel vehicles, JVs)
• Assist with global fund registrations and compliance processes
• Negotiate IMA/SMA arrangements for institutional managers
• Provide strategic, commercially focused guidance to asset managers and financial institutions

Key requirements

• 5-10 years PQE in hedge funds, investment management or broader funds work
• Strong technical knowledge of hedge fund formation, offshore domiciles, Ireland or Luxembourg
• Excellent drafting skills and understanding of regulatory frameworks
• Experience advising asset managers, financial institutions or investment platforms
• Commercial, client-focused mindset with confidence in business development
• High motivation, energy and ambition to grow a long-term practice
