Overview
In this role you will lead commercial strategies for maintenance and infrastructure, shaping how UCL procures critical estate infrastructure. You’ll partner with senior stakeholders to translate priorities into robust commercial solutions and manage framework contracts to drive value and performance. You will own end-to-end procurement activities from market engagement to contract award, using data-driven insights to improve cost, quality and sustainability. This is an opportunity to influence procurement practice in a large, complex university and contribute to strategic infrastructure delivery.

Responsibilities
- Own development and delivery of commercial strategies for maintenance and infrastructure
- Act as framework manager for maintenance and infrastructure contracts to ensure supplier performance and value
- Provide contract advice, manage risk and supplier innovation
- Lead complex procurement from strategy through competition and contract award
- Determine routes to market and develop contracting and negotiation strategies
- Lead delivery of frameworks, competitions and other commercial solutions
- Use commercial insight and data to identify opportunities for value, efficiency, and cost savings
- Advise senior stakeholders on procurement, contractual, commercial and compliance matters
- Embed commercial considerations into infrastructure planning
- Influence how the organisation approaches infrastructure procurement and balance value, quality, risk, sustainability and long-term requirements
Key requirements
- Experience leading complex procurement activity and delivering commercial outcomes
- Experience in maintenance, infrastructure, engineering, utilities or similarly technically complex environments (preferred)
- Proven ability to develop and implement robust procurements and contracts
- Confident negotiator with experience delivering large-scale commercial solutions
- Ability to operate in a large, complex organisation and work with diverse stakeholders
- Credibility to influence senior colleagues and build strong relationships
- Strong analytical skills and commercial judgement
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience
- CIPS accreditation would be advantageous
