Principal Electrical Design Engineer – Water & Wastewater AMP8

Overview

As Principal Electrical Design Engineer, you lead complex electrical design work within multidisciplinary water and wastewater projects. You will shape technical solutions for plants, pumping stations, and related assets, collaborating with partners across the UK. You’ll apply digital design techniques to deliver safe, compliant, and innovative designs that support resilient water infrastructure. You work closely with clients and internal teams to drive progress on long-term frameworks and AMP9 programs. Responsibilities

• Self-start and lead production, checking, and approval of complex electrical designs, calculations, reports, and drawings
• Lead design and advisory services for water and wastewater plants, pumping stations, and ancillary assets
• Ensure safety through design leadership and actions
• Deliver technically in multi-disciplinary projects in a Design Lead role using digital design techniques
• Identify and develop innovative, client-aligned technical solutions
• Coordinate work with multi-disciplinary teams (process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, ICA)
• Establish and grow relationships with clients and partners on technical, commercial, and progress matters
• Ensure projects meet technical, legislative, quality, safety, and environmental standards
• Mentor and supervise colleagues, contributing to their professional development
• Line management and performance development for assigned staff
• Capture key project knowledge and innovations
• Promote MEICA team capability and achievements internally and externally

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Chartered Engineer status and membership of IET, InstMC or CIWEM
• Significant experience delivering process plant systems on complex projects in water/wastewater
• Experience on design-and-construct projects using digital design platforms
• Team leadership with collaborative behaviours
• Feasibility to detailed design delivery experience
