Overview

In this developmental role you will advance from Band 7 towards Band 8a by building advanced MSK clinical practice, leadership, education and service development competencies within an integrated community MSK service. You will work alongside experienced Advanced Practitioners and a Consultant Physiotherapist to tackle complex MSK presentations and contribute to four pillars of advanced practice. The role emphasizes clinical governance, collaboration, and service improvement to shape a high-quality physiotherapy service.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced clinical care for adults with complex MSK conditions
  • Provide expert clinical opinion to support strategic development of physiotherapy services
  • Lead the organisation, development and evaluation of the Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner service
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure safe, effective patient management in Physiotherapy Practitioner clinics
  • Provide clinical leadership to support quality improvement, service redesign and innovation
  • Mentor, supervise and develop physiotherapy staff
  • Apply clinical governance principles to promote safe practice and continuous improvement

Key requirements

  • Extensive NHS MSK experience
  • Autonomous Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner experience
  • Experience managing complex patients including red flags/suspicious pathology
  • Experience teaching/train colleagues in specialist skills
  • Experience planning, conducting high-level audits and R&D relevant to the service
  • Understanding of clinical governance in MSK physiotherapy
  • Current UK HCPC registration
  • Postgraduate MSK education (level 7) and MSK MSc (preferred)
