Security Operations Continuous Improvement Lead
VANRATH is delighted to be working exclusively with a leading Northern Ireland organisation to recruit a Security Operations Continuous Improvement Lead to join their Security department.
This is a high-impact role, acting as the organisation’s intelligent client and driving operational excellence across the security operation through performance management, continuous improvement, business change and innovation. The postholder will partner closely with the contracted security provider to optimise operational performance, enhance the customer experience, and ensure full compliance with relevant security regulations.
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000, depending on experience (candidates within this range preferred)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, office based. Some unsociable hours required, including early starts to support operational requirements during peak periods.
About the Role
The postholder will use operational insight, data analytics and technology to identify opportunities for improvement, lead transformational projects, and ensure security operations remain efficient, resilient and future-ready. The role works collaboratively across internal departments, regulatory authorities, key partners and external stakeholders to deliver strategic business objectives while maintaining the highest standards of safety, security and customer service.
Key Accountabilities
Operational Performance
- Monitor operational performance using data, dashboards and business intelligence to identify and analyse trends, risks and opportunities for improvement
- Lead operational performance governance and regular review meetings with the contracted security provider
- Drive improvements in customer throughput, queue performance, productivity and service delivery
- Develop and monitor operational performance frameworks, ensuring KPIs remain aligned to strategic objectives
- Conduct root cause analysis of operational issues and implement sustainable corrective actions
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory requirements
- Ensure policy and procedures are up to date and relevant
- Produce performance reports for senior management when requested
Continuous Improvement & Business Change
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, customer experience and regulatory performance
- Lead business change activities across people, process and technology
- Promote a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement
- Benchmark performance against industry best practice to identify opportunities for operational excellence
- Assess and evaluate the impact and benefits of continuous improvement programmes or initiatives
Technology & Innovation
- Lead the operational implementation of new security technologies, ensuring successful deployment, adoption and measurable business benefits
- Identify opportunities to improve operational performance through digital solutions, automation, business intelligence and emerging technologies
- Work closely with engineering, IT and operational teams to maximise the effectiveness and availability of security equipment and systems
- Support the delivery of technology roadmaps aligned to future regulatory and operational requirements
Supplier & Stakeholder Management
- Act as the principal operational relationship manager with the contracted security provider, driving accountability, collaboration and continuous performance improvement
- Monitor supplier performance against contractual KPIs, service level agreements and operational expectations
- Build effective relationships with internal departments including Operations, Engineering, IT, Commercial, Customer Experience and Finance
- Develop strong partnerships with key operational partners and relevant regulatory stakeholders
- Influence stakeholders at all levels to support successful delivery of operational improvements and strategic initiatives
What You Will Need
Essential
- Experience of working within security operations or a similar regulated operational environment
- Proven experience of managing large-scale operational team performance to drive continuous improvement and service delivery
- Experience of using business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau or equivalent), advanced Microsoft Excel and data analysis techniques to generate operational insights
- Strong leadership, influencing and communication skills to engage stakeholders at all levels
- Full current driving licence
- Ability to satisfy security checks, renewable on a regular basis, against police and security agency records in accordance with current policy
Desirable
- Third level education in Business, Security, Operations Management or a relevant discipline
- Experience managing contracted suppliers/providers against agreed performance standards
- Track record of leading organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance and contract management principles
- Lean Six Sigma or professional security qualification
- Previous experience within a transport, logistics or regulated critical infrastructure environment
