Key Responsibilities

As a Trainee Flexographic Printer, you will work alongside experienced Senior Printers and gradually develop the skills required to become a fully trained Flexographic Printer.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting Senior Printers with the operation of Flexographic Printing Presses.
  • Learning how to safely set up machines for different jobs and print runs.
  • Supporting efficient job changes and machine preparation.
  • Assisting with print quality checks and learning how to identify quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Learning colour matching techniques and how colours are adjusted during production.
  • Helping to monitor production processes to minimise waste and maximise efficiency.
  • Assisting with the detection, reporting, and resolution of machine and production issues.
  • Completing production paperwork and records accurately.
  • Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, hygiene, and workplace organisation.
  • Following all standard operating procedures, including PPE, health and safety, hygiene, and quality requirements.
  • Working closely with Production teams and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.

Training & Development

We are looking for individual who are keen to progress in their career.

Through our structured training programme, you will progressively learn:

  • Flexographic printing processes and techniques.
  • Machine set-up and operation.
  • Print quality inspection and control.
  • Colour management and colour matching.
  • Press speed optimisation and waste reduction.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques.
  • Production planning and performance monitoring.

As your knowledge, skills, and experience develop, you will take increasing responsibility for running printing presses independently, with the opportunity to progress to Flexographic Printer / Operator level and further career advancement within the company.

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Previous manufacturing or production experience is desirable but not essential.
  • A willingness to learn a skilled trade and develop a long-term career.
  • Good timekeeping and attendance.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility within a changing manufacturing environment.
  • Good mechanical understanding and an interest in machinery.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Working Hours

40 hours per week on a rotating three-week shift pattern:

Week 1: 06:00-14:00 (Monday-Friday)

Week 2: 14:00-22:00 (Monday-Friday)

Week 3: 22:00-06:00 (Sunday night-Friday morning)
