Our client is a growing, independent RICS-regulated surveying practice with a strong reputation across the North East and North Yorkshire. With more than 50 years of local knowledge and professional experience, the business provides independent advice across residential, commercial and historic property, with a strong focus on technical quality, practical solutions and protecting clients’ interests.

Following continued growth, they’re looking for an experienced Building Surveyor / Residential Surveyor to join their team, primarily undertaking RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys.

The Role

This isn’t a high-volume surveying environment. You’ll typically undertake one survey per day, giving you the time to properly inspect the property, produce a considered report and provide clients with clear, practical advice.

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Undertaking RICS Level 2 and Level 3 Home Surveys
  • Inspecting a varied range of residential properties
  • Identifying defects and understanding their underlying causes
  • Preparing clear, comprehensive and practical reports
  • Providing post-survey advice to clients where required
  • Managing your own inspections, reporting and workload
  • Working within established inspection and reporting procedures

You’ll also have access to GoReport digital reporting technology and administrative support, allowing you to focus on surveying, reporting and client relationships rather than unnecessary administration.

About You

We’re looking for a professional who takes pride in the quality rather than quantity of their work.

You’ll ideally have:

  • AssocRICS, MRICS or FRICS qualification, or suitable SAVA experience
  • Experience undertaking residential property surveys
  • Good knowledge of traditional construction and common building defects
  • Strong technical and report-writing skills
  • Confidence dealing directly with clients
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to manage your own workload
