Overview
As a Senior Audit Manager in our Not-for-Profit Audit team, you will lead complex audit engagements for charities, academies, and public sector entities to ensure financial integrity and regulatory compliance. You’ll mentor audit teams, shape audit strategies, and foster client relationships to drive quality and satisfaction. Your expertise will support not-for-profit governance and funding compliance while contributing to firm-wide quality initiatives. This is a high-impact role at scale, combining technical leadership with coaching and process improvement.

Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end audit engagements for not-for-profit organisations, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS and regulatory requirements
- Manage and mentor a team of auditors and senior staff, providing guidance and professional development
- Develop and implement audit strategies tailored to not-for-profit entities
- Conduct risk assessments, evaluate internal controls, and design audit procedures for high-quality evidence
- Prepare and review financial statements, audit reports, and management letters with clarity and accuracy
- Act as a key client contact, building strong relationships and addressing issues proactively
- Collaborate with senior leadership to identify service improvements and new business opportunities
- Stay updated with changes in accounting standards and not-for-profit sector best practices
- Contribute to firm-wide quality control, training, and policy development
Key requirements
- Professional audit experience with not-for-profit organisations, charities and academies
- Proven track record in managing complex audit engagements and leading multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong technical knowledge of UK GAAP, IFRS and ISA standards
- People management and leadership skills with coaching and performance management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Qualified ACA or ACCA with active membership and CPD
- Experience with public sector bodies and grant-funded projects, compliance with funding regulations (DfE, Charity Commission)
- High integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to audit quality
