Production Support Engineer

Overview

In this Equity Production Engineer role, you partner with equity investment teams to ensure reliability and performance of front-to-back trading systems. You will engage with PMs, Traders, and Analysts to identify issues and drive workflow improvements. Your focus is on automating operations, delivering resilient solutions, and applying AI to boost efficiency. This is a fast-paced, collaborative environment within a technology-forward firm undergoing a tech transition.

Responsibilities

• Support Equities investment staff across Trading, Position, PnL, Risk, Reporting, Research, and compliance systems.
• Maintain and enhance front, middle, and back-office equity systems.
• Collaborate with a global Production Engineering team to resolve issues and identify improvements.
• Engage with PMs, Traders, and Analysts to surface problems and opportunities.
• Deliver automation and integration solutions using Python, PowerShell, and SQL.
• Document support issues, trade flows, and procedures on Confluence.
• Implement AI-based improvements to operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with external vendors on strategic enhancements.
• Provide escalation support across regions, including after-hours on a rotation.
• Monitor health, capacity, and performance of critical trading systems and address bottlenecks.

Key requirements

• 3–5+ years in a role supporting an Equities trading desk within banks, hedge funds, asset managers, or relevant software vendors.
• Solid understanding of Equity products (Cash Equities, Futures, Options) and ability to discuss with PMs, Traders, Analysts, Operations, and Risk.
• Experience in ITIL-based production support and Agile development environments.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for internally developed systems.
• Scripting experience in Python and/or PowerShell for support tasks.
• SQL experience across MSSQL and other databases.
• Proficiency with AI and LLMs (e.g., ChatGPT) to improve efficiency.
• Experience supporting OMS/EMS equity platforms (FlexTrade, Virtu Triton, SpiderRock).
• Experience with Windows, Linux, and Cloud (Kubernetes, AWS).
• Knowledge of messaging platforms (Solace, Kafka, RabbitMQ) and FIX messaging.
• Experience with trade lifecycle, exception handling, and market/static data issues.
• Familiarity with enterprise schedulers (Active Batch, Airflow, Control-M, AutoSys) and monitoring tools (ITRS Geneos, Zabbix).
