Overview

In this role you drive HSES strategy across the organization, shaping how safety, health, environment, and security policies are implemented in projects and operations. You will lead a team, guide compliance with local and international regulations, and influence decision-making to improve effectiveness. You tackle complex technical, operational, and organizational issues, delivering risk-based improvements and stewardship of HSES performance. This is a chance to influence safety culture and contribute to the energy transition mission at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain current HSES policies and procedures
  • Interpret regulatory requirements and monitor compliance
  • Manage manning levels for HSES activities
  • Identify and deliver HSES training needs and conduct training
  • Develop and implement local and project HSES procedures
  • Oversee performance of HSES personnel and subcontractors
  • Facilitate HAZID and risk reviews
  • Prepare HSES audit plans and conduct audits
  • Prepare HSES activity plans and performance reports
  • Set annual HSES targets and maintain improvement plans
  • Lead or participate as SME in incident investigations and reporting
  • Provide HSES input to look-ahead plans, change management, and lessons learned
  • Review/approve subcontractors and vendors for equipment and services
  • Represent HSES in kick-off meetings, constructability reviews, and readiness reviews
  • Champion compliance with McDermott policies and procedures
  • Ensure mandatory training is completed by team members
  • Communicate responsibilities and authority for policy implementation

Key requirements

  • Over 8-9 years of HSE experience in the Energy Industry
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • ISO standards lead auditor certification (9001, 14001, or 45001)
  • Maintain key HSES competencies
  • Team member and team leadership capability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Familiarity with local and international HSES laws and regulations
