Overview

As a Project Engineer in our Alberta Transportation team, you will lead design development and support planning through construction on local and regional projects. You will work with senior project managers and design teams to deliver transportation facilities, balancing client needs and technical excellence. The role blends office design work with field-leaning activities to ensure safe, efficient, and resilient infrastructure. This position offers hybrid work and the chance to impact communities across Alberta.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of design plans and support preparation of technical specs and quantity estimates
  • Prepare engineering reports and technical studies
  • Support grading and surfacing designs for Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors (asset)
  • Provide engineering leadership and management of transportation projects from planning through construction
  • Coordinate with client project managers, design teams, and sub consultants for timely delivery
  • Collaborate with other transportation staff and departments to complete projects

Key requirements

  • Minimum 8 years’ engineering and project delivery experience in transportation facilities
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Alberta or eligible for licensing
  • Experience in geometric design of provincial highways, streets, and rural roads; drainage design or construction administration is a plus
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads and/or OpenRoads is an asset
  • Experience in cost estimating, tender preparation, and contract administration on transportation projects
  • Ability to manage projects and multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong oral and written communication with high attention to detail and accuracy
