Managing Quantity Surveyor – 70k – 95k plus package

Overview

In this role you will own and lead the commercial function across multiple residential projects in London, ensuring profitability while meeting contractual obligations. You will back the Commercial Manager, steering a commercial team, handling tendering, cost control, valuations and contract variations on high-rise RC frame blocks for housing associations. You’ll mentor QSs, manage procurement, and navigate JCT contracts to mitigate risk and deliver financial performance. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role with clear impact on project outcomes and company profitability.

Responsibilities

• Manage QS across 6 residential projects
• Prepare tender and contract documents
• Review client amendments to JCT contracts
• Conduct cost analysis for tender returns
• Assist in establishing client requirements and feasibility studies
• Perform risk and value management and cost control
• Advise on procurement strategy
• Identify and respond to commercial risks
• Allocate work to subcontractors
• Provide advice on contractual claims
• Analyze outcomes and write progress reports
• Value completed work and arrange payments
• Maintain awareness of current building contracts
• Understand health and safety implications
• Prepare monthly cost reports
• Prepare monthly sub-contract valuations
• Prepare monthly client valuations
• Manage and guide sub-team members

Key requirements

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on management experience
• BSc in Surveying or equivalent
• Strong leadership and team management experience
• Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills
• Excellent presentation and communication skills
• Solid knowledge of the JCT suite of contracts
