Overview

As Safety Manager at Essity Health and Medical Solutions NA, you will drive a proactive safety culture on the Manchester, CT site, ensuring regulatory compliance and continuous risk reduction. You’ll lead safety programs and SLT-driven initiatives, shaping policies, training, and audits to improve worker well-being. This role combines transformational leadership with hands-on safety system implementation to support Essity’s mission of safer, healthier environments. You will collaborate across functions to deliver measurable safety improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead site-wide safety culture change using the Essity I Care Journey Steps
  • Set safety goals and implementation plans with the SLT
  • Develop and update safety policies, procedures, and training modules
  • Coordinate supervisory and employee safety training and record-keeping
  • Lead safety communications across the site
  • Implement a safety management system ensuring regulatory compliance
  • Participate in Union/Management Safety Committee meetings
  • Oversee contract security guard activities
  • Coordinate safety audits and investigations of incidents/accidents
  • Manage safety data metrics in the company database
  • Coordinate safety risk assessments, Job Safety Analysis, and pre-job permits
  • Lead contractor management program
  • Perform other essential responsibilities as needed

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety or relevant program (preferred)
  • 5+ years safety management experience (preferred)
  • Ability to develop and implement safety programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to motivate employees to work safely
  • Strong computer and training skills
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workers compensation law
