Overview

In this role you will join a focused Projects & Construction team within a leading international law firm to handle major infrastructure, energy and development projects. You will work closely with Partners and senior lawyers in the Real Estate Group, advising on complex construction and engineering contracts and related agreements. The role offers early responsibility and autonomy on domestic and international deals, with emphasis on client relationships and business development. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape high-profile projects and contribute to the firm’s cross-practice collaboration and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review and amend construction-related documentation (including JCT forms) and related agreements
  • Advise on non-contentious construction issues
  • Understand and advise on project financing bankability (debt and equity)
  • Advise on EPC and bespoke construction contracts, professional appointments, O&M, and technical services agreements
  • Provide efficient support to partners and develop client relationships
  • Support the wider team in business development and raising the firm’s profile
  • Manage and supervise junior staff and trainees

Key requirements

  • Circa 3-4 years PQE
  • Experience with a large or national firm and in construction and large-scale projects
  • Strong legal/commercial knowledge and analytical skills
  • Broad exposure to significant construction matters and transactions
  • Experience in energy projects preferred but not essential
  • Client relationship building
  • Analytical thinking
  • Team collaboration and mentoring
  • Drafting and negotiating construction contracts (including JCT forms)
  • Understanding of financing and bankability for projects
  • Experience with EPC and bespoke construction contracts
