Overview
As a Senior Design Engineer at Pearson’s newly formed Enterprise Learning & Skills team, you translate concept into interactive, production-ready interfaces. You design in Figma, code in React/TypeScript, and prototype with AI tools to validate with real enterprise clients. You work end-to-end on user-facing layers, ensuring seamless integration with Pearson and third-party systems. You contribute to a disciplined, evidence-led product process that emphasizes fast learning and scalable foundations. This role offers hands-on ownership, cross-functional collaboration, and the chance to shape new AI-enabled learning products.
Responsibilities
- Prototype new product concepts in code (React/TypeScript or similar) from spikes to demo-ready experiences
- Design and build end-to-end user interfaces including interaction design, IA, visual design, motion, and front-end code
- Create seamless integrations that stitch together Pearson products and external enterprise systems
- Establish lightweight design foundations (patterns, components, tokens) to move fast while preserving option to evolve
- Plan and run validation activities with the product manager (usability sessions, concept tests)
- Ensure accessibility by default (WCAG conformance)
- Adapt to varying project needs, from deep coding work to research or facilitation
Key requirements
- Relevant experience spanning product design and front-end engineering with a portfolio of shipped products and prototypes
- Strong front-end craft: modern TypeScript/JavaScript, React or comparable framework, CSS
- Real design skill across typography, layout, color, interaction, motion
- Fluency with design tools (Figma) and AI-assisted workflows as part of exploration and build
- Experience designing for complex, integration-rich enterprise environments
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and practical application
- Autonomy in ambiguous contexts and strong communication to align others
