Junior Buyer

Overview

As Junior Buyer, you will support procurement for roofing and cladding projects, coordinating with project managers and the procurement team to ensure timely delivery and value. You’ll manage supplier relationships, monitor price changes, and help maintain an efficient supply chain. The role blends hands-on purchasing with basic ledger processing, contributing to project success and on-time site delivery. This is a hands-on, growth-focused opportunity in a specialist building envelope contractor. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to optimise commercial terms and ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities

• Procurement and scheduling of products, materials, plant, and equipment
• Ensuring purchases offer best value
• Monitoring and reporting of price increases, updating internal spreadsheets
• Tracking orders and proactively addressing any failed or late deliveries
• Arranging the return of non-conforming products
• Maintaining and developing the supply chain
• Processing of purchase ledger records

Key requirements

• Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills to optimise pricing and commercial terms
• Ability to forward plan for multiple site projects and prioritise workload across long-lead and real time demands
• Identify potential supply problems and solutions
• Excellent interpersonal skills – strong relationship builder and communicator
• Takes individual ownership and collaborates to deliver team and company objectives
• Ability to undertake take offs would be an advantage (training will be given)
