Overview

As HR Manager, you will lead the group’s day-to-day HR function and small team in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. You provide commercially-focused, practical advice to managers and ensure compliant, efficient people processes. You’ll handle complex employee relations matters, guide performance and policy decisions, and support end-to-end HR activities from onboarding to offboarding. This role sits close to operations, shaping a responsive, high-quality HR service across sites. You’ll drive continuous improvement and own HR system enhancements to stay visible, approachable, and impactful.

Responsibilities

  • Lead employee relations across the group with compliance to UK employment law
  • Advise and coach managers on performance, policies, and procedures
  • Manage disciplinary, grievance, absence, TUPE, restructures and consultation casework
  • Lead and develop a small HR team, ensuring high-quality service
  • Oversee full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, probation, reviews, development and offboarding
  • Support payroll-related queries and HR administration
  • Review and implement HR policies and processes
  • Promote wellbeing and engagement initiatives
  • Provide operational managers with practical people-support
  • Manage HR, ATS and scheduling systems and assist with system implementations
  • Drive continuous improvement to keep HR visible and engaged

Key requirements

  • Experience as HR Manager or senior operational HR role
  • Background in fast-paced environments (security, events, hospitality, logistics, retail)
  • CIPD Level 5 or Level 7
  • Extensive employee relations experience and UK employment law knowledge
  • Experience handling disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, TUPE and restructures
  • Experience leading, motivating and developing an HR team
  • Strong relationship-building and influencing skills
  • Experience with HR systems, ATS and scheduling systems; proficient in Excel
  • Hands-on, commercially focused approach
  • Full UK driving licence and access to vehicle for travel between sites
