As a Principal Electrical Engineer at AECOM, you lead medium-voltage electrical design for utility-scale wind, solar, BESS, and hybrid projects. You own technical direction across the design lifecycle, coordinating from concept through commissioning. You balance safety, performance, and cost while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, coordinated designs. This role offers impact across renewable energy and grid interfaces within a global engineering environment.
Pay / Benefits
- flexible work arrangements
- up to 6 weeks additional annual leave
- volunteer and representation leave
- flex public holidays
Responsibilities
- Guide the electrical design approach for medium-voltage balance of plant on generation/storage projects, including collector networks, substations, and grid interfaces
- Develop and review design bases, single-line diagrams, equipment ratings, cable sizing and derating, and protection requirements
- Build and review DIgSILENT PowerFactory models and conduct load-flow, short-circuit, voltage, and harmonic studies
- Select and review transformers and major electrical plant, including ratings, impedance, and loss considerations
- Develop protection and control philosophies, grading studies, relay settings, and commissioning plans
- Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs, mentor engineers, support client decisions, and provide technical review during procurement, construction, and commissioning
