Buyer

Overview

As a Buyer at SPX, you will join a small Purchasing team to procure electronic components, mechanical items, and services. You’ll collaborate with Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to align purchasing with priorities and production needs. You will optimize supplier performance, lead times, and costs while maintaining data accuracy in ERP systems. This role offers exposure to continuous improvement and cross-functional work in a global technology company. You will help sustain production and contribute to safer, more efficient solutions for customers.

Responsibilities

• Obtain quotations and issue Purchase Orders per business processes
• Manage suppliers and open PO book, expediting to meet dates
• Issue RFQs and negotiate price and lead times
• Resolve ordering queries with suppliers and internal teams
• Collaborate with Quality to address supplier quality issues
• Maintain Approved Supplier List and conduct supplier reviews
• Resolve delivery and invoicing queries
• Maintain accurate purchasing data in ERP (PO dates, pricing, confirmations, delivery updates)
• Monitor supplier performance and escalate risks
• Support inventory control and assess material availability and lead times
• Coordinate with Planning, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Finance
• Ensure purchasing activities comply with policies and approvals
• Identify opportunities to reduce cost and improve supplier lead times and PO accuracy

Key requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience in procurement or supply chain
• Basic negotiation and commercial awareness
• Process-driven with PO administration knowledge
• Self-motivated, able to work under pressure with tight timeframes
• Flexible to adapt to changing environments
• Confident communicator (written, verbal, in person, telephone)
• Numerate with analytical skills
• Able to identify savings opportunities
• Intermediate MS Office skills
